The tiny island of Barbados is the furthest east of all the Caribbean islands and is considered part of the Lesser Antilles. The small luxury hotels we have selected in Barbados are found along the picturesque west coast, to the north of the capital Bridgetown.
The beaches in this area are on the Caribbean side of the island and characterized by turquoise waters and pink sands. Barbados also has some incredible caves with two of the most famous being the Animal Flower sea cave and Harrison's, with its stalactites and stalagmites, underground waterfalls and curious covered pools.
In the interior of the island, the Barbados Nature Reserve provides ample opportunity to observe local wildlife, particularly the entertaining green monkeys. While the Gun Hill observation point, formerly used as a lookout for pirate ships, offers incredible panoramic views.
Divers will find a wealth of marine life in the clear Caribbean waters while on the Atlantic coast, around Bathsheba, there are beaches suitable for surfing. All towns in Barbados have a great nightlife with numerous lively bars. A rum and something is almost obligatory here with the most famous rums being Mount Gay and Cockspur's Five Star.
