Description: Chateau les RochesLes Roches is a boutique guest house located in the heart of Burgundy in the medieval village of Mont-Saint-Jean. They offer six spacious double bedrooms with private bathrooms; a library, salon and large dining room with hand-painted ceiling panels. The salon and dining room both open onto a large terrace with unobstructed views of the valley. The property has many mature trees in its little park and several very private seating areas offering plenty of shade for the warm summer days. The bell tower is one of the highest buildings in the town and has fantastic views of the country side. The architecture is very unusual for Burgundy; this style is normally found in Biarritz and parts of Normandy where Parisians built country homes. The house was built to entertain and host smaller groups but mainly to impress. A Parisian judge commissioned the building for his mistress at the turn of the 18th Century and Les Roches was completed 1906. There is a stone profile of the mistress above the main entrance. Her portrait can also be found on the various hand-painted ceiling panels in the dining room.
