Description: Cousine Island

In the waters of the Indian Ocean, there is an island like no other on Earth. Just below the equator and 1500 miles east of Africa, Cousine Island is one of the most pristine islands of the Seychelles archipelago. Listen as the sound of the ocean surrounds your every sense, stroking its butterfly wings gently against your upturned face. High above the island Frigate birds soar effortlessly in the gentle tropical breeze. A dancing shadow over an island paradise. Cousine Island has been developed with conservation and sustainability in mind.

Cousine Island has a mission: "to promote and practice nature conservation and wise use of natural resources and to share this philosophy with their guests." Cousine is a haven for nature - unlike many islands, this island has no alien mammals so wildlife lives in peace and harmony. The 25 hectares are home to the Seychelles Magpie Robin, the Brush Warbler, Blue Pigeon and many others. Hawksbill turtles come here to lay their eggs - if you stay with between October and January you would be unlucky not to see this fabulous work of nature.

Cousine is all about peace and tranquility - if you are looking for night life this is not the island for you. During your stay you will meet the conservation officer who will take you around the island and show you their working practices. Rainwater is collected and treated to be safe to drink. Large storage tanks ensure they collect all they can. Cousine Island is a rare experience of nature´s perfection.

There are only 4 French Colonial style luxurious villas on the island with 16 staff. Each villa has been built to allow maximum privacy whilst enjoying commanding views over the Indian Ocean.

All villas have modern facilities with inside and outside showers. Each villa has a spacious bedroom, separate lounge, large bathroom with Jacuzzi, inside and outside showers and their own front and rear patio.

Double Occupancy: There is only space for 1 extra bed for a child under 6 years old in each villa.

Children are accepted at the managements discretion unless the island is booked exclusively. There is only space for 1 extra bed for a child under 6 years old in each villa.

Getting to Cousine is possible by a helicopter or boat transfer. Helicopter transfer can be arranged to bring you from any island or from Seychelles International airport on the island of Mahé. There are regular charter and schedule flights from all major international airports to Mahé. Boat transfer from Praslin for 2-10 pax at 250 Euro return.

In addition to the above facilities each villa has its own mini-bar fridge, ice making machine, tea and coffee making facilities, and direct dial telephone with computer modem point. For entertainment there is digital satellite television, video, DVD and CD/cassette player.

There is always someone available 24 hours a day.

They offer complimentary snorkeling and guided walks with conservation officer. Other activities like deep sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing excursions and visits to surrounding islands can be arranged by Cousine Island.

The air conditioned library provides ample reading and a relaxing atmosphere. A wide range of books are available plus lots of information on Cousine Island and its heritage. There are also books on the other islands in the Seychelles archipelago.

Booking and cancellation policy

Reservation policy: All reservations are made directly with Cousine Island and must be confirmed in writing either by email or by fax.
Payment policy: bookings will be confirmed when Cousine Island receives payment as per the conditions below:
SINGLE VILLA BOOKING 50% deposit is required upon confirmation of booking. Remaining balance must be paid 14 (fourteen) days prior to arrival. Guests who book within the period of 14 (fourteen) days prior to arrival must pay 100% upon making the reservation.
WHOLE ISLAND RENTAL 50% deposit is required upon confirmation of booking. Remaining balance must be paid 45 (forty five) days prior to arrival. Guests who book within the period of 44 (forty four) days prior to arrival must pay 100% upon making reservation.

Cancellation policy: cancellation of reservation must be in writing and can be by fax or email to the address/number listed below. It must be received by Cousine Island in the time periods specified before the arrival date.
Cousine Island will charge as follows for cancellations:
SINGLE VILLA BOOKING 30 days prior to arrival: 20% of the rack rate per night of accommodation for the period booked with Cousine Island. 15 to 29 days prior to arrival: 35% of the rack rate per night of accommodation for the period booked with Cousine Island. 1 to 14 days prior to arrival: 80% of the rack rate per night of accommodation for the period booked with Cousine Island. On the day of arrival or no-show: 100% of the rack rate per night of accommodation for the period booked with Cousine Island.
WHOLE ISLAND BOOKING 91 days or more prior to arrival: no charge 45-90 days prior to arrival: 50% of the rack rate per night for the period booked. 0-44 days prior to arrival: 50% of the rack rate per night for the period booked.
