Nearby towns are packed full of history and wonderful Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture. There are literally dozens of the most stunning castles within an hours drive. Prague and Cesky Krumlov are within 1.5 hours and can be easily reached by road or train. Hotel Nautilus provides an ideal location for a wonderful romantic or active holiday in Bohemia. All who visit will appreciate that there's more to the Czech Republic than Prague. Located in the Southern Bohemia, Tabor is well located for many day trips, whether you are looking for historical monuments, picturesque medieval walled towns, or endless rolling hills and forests.
Local points of interest include: the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord on Mt. Tabor, the town hall, an excellent example of late Gothic architecture that was constructed between 1440 and 1521. It now houses the Hussite Museum, and the underground tunnels that run under the old town. The old town, a warren of narrow medieval streets designed to weaken any enemy attack, is now a great place to wander and discover an interesting collection of colorful houses with an amazing variety of gables, frescos, and beautiful examples of sgraffito. One end of old town is marked by Kotnov Tower and Bechynská Gate. The Gate now houses a small historical museum with a permanent exhibition called The Life and Work of Medieval Society, and the tower can be climbed for another great view. Also of interest is the pilgrimage church and monastery of Klokoti, and the quiet but beautiful Mikulás of Hus Square. For plant lovers there is the Botanical Gardens.
