Prague Castle, located on the left bank of the River Vltava, is one of the prime sights. With its origins in the 9th century, it includes a Gothic cathedral, Romanesque basilica, Baroque palace, monastery and terraced gardens. Today, many of the buildings house museums and exhibitions.

Crossing the river is the picturesque Charles Bridge, a busy pedestrianized thoroughfare by day and simply magical at dawn. On the right bank, Staré Mìsto is a maze of narrow streets, ideal for those eager to explore; although the fascinating astronomical clock in the old town square should not be left to chance.
