Beschreibung: Palacio de TrasvillaEnjoying a delightful location in the heart of the Cantabrian region of Pasiega, Palacio de Trasvilla is set in a painstakingly restored 16th century mansion, just outside the hamlet of Escobedo. This charming small hotel is furnished and decorated with magnificent antiques, some of which are as old as the 12th century, and offers comfortable accommodation in a secluded rural setting.
Palacio de Trasvilla is the perfect starting point for exploring this unspoilt corner of Cantabria. Nearby landmarks and attractions include the village of Puente Viesgo and the caves of El Castillo, and the Via Verde del Pas greenway, which follows the course of the river Pas on its way through magnificent landscapes, and beside historic villages and ancient chapels and hermitages. Slightly further afield, the splendid city of Santander is just over half an hour's drive away, as are Santillana del Mar and the caves of Altamira.
Within the hotel's grounds, guests can simply relax in the magnificent garden, swim in the large pool or enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi. The hotel also has a cosy lounge bar with a majestic fireplace for those cold winter evenings, and evening meals can be arranged on request.

This charming room emulates the lodgings offered to pilgrims in bygone days, and is located on the first floor of the palace. It has a hand-carved 19th century walnut bed, Louis XV bedside tables and desk, and an 18th century Norman style walnut wardrobe. Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña. 22 sq m.
The Flemish Room:
Located on the first floor of the palace, this room has Flemish style tapestries, a 19th century oak bed, and a richly carved and gilded tabernacle from the nineteenth century. Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña and solid wood cornucopias lined in gold leaf from the18th century. 22 sq m.
The Shells Room:
Situated on the second floor of the palace, this large room has two 1,05 x 2m beds with carved chestnut headboards, made in the 19th century, with matching tables, 19th century carved oak wardrobe and Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña. 40 sq m.
The Princes' Room:
Set on the first floor of the palace, this splendid room has a double bed, a sofa bed and a wardrobe converted from an 18th century carved desk. This room is ideal for families. Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña. 45 sq m.
The Marquis's Room:
Located on the second floor of the palace, this large full bedroom includes a Renaissance style carved walnut bed with night stands and armoire, Louis XVI style chair covered in red velvet and gold leaf, and Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña. It also features a Templar lamp from the 12th century. 45 sq m.
The Duke's Room:
This large room has an area of 45 sq m and is located on the second floor of the palace. It has an attic lounge, a Baroque bed, a Norman-style wardrobe, Italian Baroque console coated in gold leaf, and a gilded Italian mirror, all from the 18th century, Louis XVI style chairs and Spanish hand-knotted carpets by Pedro Peña. It also has a cut crystal chandelier brought from an Italian palace.
