Alexander House features the exclusive relaxed atmosphere Alexander Zhukov and his family wanted to create when they decided to open their own family-run small boutique hotel. They do not advertise the hotel as such; this allows guests to feel absolutely relaxed and gives Hotel Alexander House its particular club-like atmosphere. They do not have even the name Hotel Alexander House on the front door.

Each of the 19 rooms is different, and has its own particular character. The water in the rooms is both clean and safe to drink and all have heating in the winter, and air-conditioner for the summer months. Most feature beautiful views of the Kryukov Canal, the Fontanka River and both the Nikolsky and Troitsky cathedrals.

Alexander House is in an historical area of St Petersburg where heroes of the books of Gogol, Pushkin and Dostoevsky used to live. It is only a 20 minute walk to Nevsky Prospect. Alexander House is a short distance from Theatre Square (site of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Conservatory) and can be reached either through Theatre Square, and along Kryukov Canal Embankment, or along the Fontanka River Embankment, at the corner with Kryukov Canal by car.

The elegant building was built at the beginning of the 19th century for a prosperous St Petersburg merchant. During the reconstruction, the owners spent a lot of time making sure that they were restoring the building as close as possible back to its original appearance. For example, they found the original architect's drawings and used the design of the shutters - which give the hotel a very European look.

Peking: The Chinese furnishings and decorative objects in 'Peking' go very well they think with the old St Petersburg white walls and exposed beams. There is a view of the Troitsky Cathedral.

'Copenhagen': is in the mansard of the building and the proportions are unusual. For this reason they wanted it to be as light as possible, and chose the palest beiges and creams they could find. There is a view of the Troitsky Cathedral.

Nairobi: is situated on the ground floor of the building. Calm, cozy atmosphere, bright decorations and soft illumination promotes a very special sense of comfort. From the window there is a view on their nice summer garden. This room like the other rooms of their house differs with its unusual design; the bed, decorated with a canopy, is placed on a podium, and the whole design absolutely refers to the room's name.

Kyoto: is one of the spiritual centers of Japan, and in this room they wanted to be faithful to the idea of calm and simplicity. There is also quite a romantic feel about it.

'Barcelona': is a two-bedroom apartment. The beautiful arched window of the living room is the focal point of the design. They kept the exposed brickwork, the exposed timbers and the original wooden floorboards, and just placed a curved sofa here, to work in harmony with the window. There is a view of the Kryukov Canal Embankment.
The living-room measures 40 sq m; bedroom 1 measures 16 sq m and bedroom 2 measures 15 m sq m. 'Mexico': the old timbers of the building have a much lighter color than elsewhere, and so they wanted to make an impact with the Mexican paintings and wall designs. The room has a courtyard view.

'Helsinki': is on the top floor of the hotel, and it has a very beautiful curved ceiling. They kept the furnishings as simple and straightforward as possible, to let the ceiling dominate. The room has a courtyard view.

Deli: is situated on the second floor of the building. Each detail of the room's interior transfers the spirit of India. Wooden floor, consisting of boards, textile and not ordinary colors fully refer to the room's name. Bright, sated and at the same time cozy and calm atmosphere. In this spacious room there is a fully equipped kitchen with dishes. It is especially good for guests with children, in addition, there is a bar table.
