A superb grade I listed Palladian mansion from 1740, set in one of the West Country's most romantic estates made up of a classical landscape created by the great 18th Century gardener, Humphry Repton, Ston Easton Park exudes elegance, warmth and comfort. Reflecting the glory of a bygone age, exquisite furnishings and paintings add further refinement to the excellence of the dining rooms and the fine, spacious bedrooms.

The house has been very sensitively restored since the 1960s, Lawns slope down to the river and the gardens contain a host of interesting historic features including a number of wells, an 18th Century Ice House, a ruined grotto fountain, a sham castle, romantic Palladian bridges that span the river and a rare 18th Century plunge pool.

The cuisine at Ston Easton Park is of award-winning stature, using fresh vegetables from their own Victorian kitchen garden as well as the best locally grown produce. The outstanding cuisine in this remarkable setting creates a uniquely desirable dining experience of international renown. Its cellars too are famed for their rare wines and vintages, whilst for everyday enjoyment there is an extensive range of New World and table wines.

Guests at Ston Easton Park can choose the setting to suit their mood and the occasion. The Yellow Room, with its Georgian and Regency furniture and ancestral portraits, is very popular for private lunches and dinner parties. The Cedar Tree Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant which can be opened up onto the adjoining Painting Room which makes an ideal morning or breakfast room. Each setting is sufficiently versatile to accommodate both small private lunches and large dinners.

Ston Easton Park still has its original Georgian kitchen complete with sparkling copper pans and cooking facilities of the period. Here, private party guests can enjoy candlelit dinners, high tea with home-made scones or a wonderful gourmet meal. In summer, lunches can be served outside on the front terrace and many visitors choose to hold garden parties and other prestigious events on the front lawn. Prepared picnics and rugs are available for guests who wish to dine in the grounds.

All the rooms have original period features which are combined with exquisite furnishings. They are all gloriously grand but never intimidating.

Many have genuine four poster beds, others coronet beds, fine paintings and of course enticing views of either the formal or informal side of the landscaped gardens and the parkland beyond.

The hotel can organise hot air balloon rides or helicopter flights from within the grounds or you can explore the 18th century parkland that extends to two hundred acres. Lawns slope down to the river and the gardens contain a host of interesting historic features. Garden tours taken by their Head Gardener are given throughout the Spring and Summer months.

Guests can borrow the hotel's croquet set and the billiard room situated 'below stairs' at Ston Easton Park is also available for guests.

A variety of country pursuits are available. All the activities take place a short drive from Ston Easton Park. Clay Pigeon Shooting, Fly Fishing or Horseriding. If you are skilful enough to catch a trout when you're fly fishing their Head Chef will be happy to cook a tempting dish with the fish.

There is a host of beautiful cities, ancient monuments, glorious gardens and grand stately homes all within a short distance. Ston Easton village is midway between Bath and the cathedral city of Wells. Wells' Cathedral with its imposing West Front and moated Bishop's Palace is a perfect example of an ancient English cathedral largely untouched by time.

Also within a short drive from the hotel lies Glastonbury with it's famous Tor, ruined Abbey and gravestones marking the fabled burial place of King Arthur. Stourhead, one of the finest landscape gardens in the world and Tintinhull House, a classic, early 20th Century garden, are both near Ston Easton.
