From Colima airport it is 28 km. (or 35 minutes) by complimentary transfer to MAHAKUA-Hacienda de San Antonio. Guadalajara, 2.5 hr.

On the sprawling grounds, guests will at every turn find opportunities to savour life on a great Mexican estate. With the range of experiences available, guests will not need to leave the estate should they simply wish to pursue total relaxation in-house. Options include riding through scenic countryside, touring the estate and its classical gardens, visiting traditional villages, bird-watching or extended nature walks along undisturbed paths.

San Antonio Chapel: Built on thanksgiving early last century after the Hacienda was miraculously spared from a volcanic eruption, the chapel has been completely restored. It is still used by outlying villages during festivals and can seat up to 60 persons in its wooden pews.

Mirador Room: This cosy lounge on the Roof Terrace with its large armchairs and divans is another relaxed setting for board games or satellite TV.

Library: The library stocks rare volumes on the arts of Mexico. Social, political and cultural histories, as well as fiction and magazines, are available. Library CDs range from classical and popular Mexican music to jazz and pop.

Gallery: More than a gift shop, the Gallery also serves as a romantic setting for dining in the evenings in front of the volcanic stone fireplace. Artefacts of the region, including textiles, ceramics and jewellery, are available.

Corral and Amphitheatre: The Hacienda's own corral can host a charreada, often described as a Mexican rodeo where performances focus on extreme horsemanship. While not a house event at the Hacienda, a charreada can be arranged from a nearby town. The amphitheatre is like a Greek miniature theatre with volcanic rock steps leading to a stage. Performances of music and drama can be held here.
