The award-winning, five-star Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort is one of the most renowned vacation destinations in the South Pacific. Located on the island of Vanua Levu on 17 acres of a coconut plantation, the resort overlooks the peaceful waters of Savusavu Bay.

A sister resort to the Post Ranch Inn they are the only resort that employs a full-time marine biologist to help visitors appreciate the underwater world of Fiji.

25 spacious bures built from local timbers. There are 6 types of bure:

Gardenview bures: overlook tropical foliage, colorful flowers and exotic plants they feature a deck, a king bed and a day bed. This bure is ideal for a couple with one child.

Oceanfront bures: feature a deck including a hammock. Offering privacy and water views, one king bed and one day bed. Perfect for a couple with one child.

Oceanfront Suite: is designed for honeymoon couples or a family of four or five, each oceanfront suite bure offers privacy and splendid views. Featuring a large patio, two king beds, one day bed.

Oceanfront 2-bedroom bures: Ideal for a family of four or five who want ocean views, comfort, and more privacy, the bure offers two bedrooms and small sitting area in the main bedroom.

Point Reef Bures: Set apart from the resort in a secluded area but with easy access to all the hotel has to offer, these private bures are the newest and most spacious, ideal for honeymoon couples and romantic getaways, one king bed on the upper level and two separate day beds on the lower level or sitting area. All offer spectacular ocean views from the living room and bedroom. Children are welcome in these bures only during school holidays, including summer vacation.

Honeymoon Point Reef Bure: with Spa Tub, this one-of-a-kind bure is the finest on offer. Similar to the Point Reef bures, this bure features its own private spa tub on the deck overlooking the sea. Located on the point among secluded gardens, its perfect for honeymoon couples.

Each bure features rattan furnishings, king-size bed with custom-made mattress, small sitting area with desk, wooden louvered windows, overhead fan, and private deck with garden or ocean views.
Oversized bathrooms in warm Italian tile offer double sink basins, separate shower, and hair dryer. Other amenities include minibar with complimentary beverages and snacks, French press coffee maker, plush robes and tropical flowers.
To ensure a serene environment, the bures have no telephones or televisions.

ACTIVITIES
Resort activities included in the regular rates a rain-forest hike with our resident naturalist/marine biologist, a visit to a native Fijian village, and an educational trip to the mangrove lagoon. They also have a swimming pool (freshwater) and a tennis court, volleyball court, gift shop and conference center. They offer sea kayaks, hobie cat sailing, snorkeling, and also a glass-bottom boat for our guests. The resort strives to offer an environmental, cultural and luxurious experience to our guests.
The resort's massage program has many delightful massage & spa treatments to choose from, ranging in price from FJ$130 to FJ$250 per treatment.

They have wonderful scuba diving activities for an extra charge, ranging from beginning lessons to advanced dives aboard our custom-built dive boat, L'Aventure. Fiji is known as the "soft coral capital of the world," and you will be able to see these magnificent corals in all their splendor.

JUST FOR KIDS
The resort has a wonderful program for children, called Bula Club, which reflects Jean-Michel Cousteau's commitment to children as the future caretakers of the earth and its oceans. There is a separate area for Bula Club, with a wading pool, a playground and a bure for reading, arts and crafts, games and naps. Children receive a Passport To Discovery upon arrival that is stamped as activities are completed. There are activities involving Environmental Education (coral reef exploration, mangrove reforestation, rainforest ecology, tidal flats discovery) Fijian Arts, Crafts & Culture (necklace making, coconut leaf weaving, village visit), Just Plain Fun (swimming, snorkeling, beach combing, picnics) and Evening Programs (star-gazing, educational videos, slide shows and scavenger hunts).

The resort has 4 swimming pools:
- The Oceanfront horizon-edge Serenity Pool is designated for adults only and teenagers 13 years and older.
- Family pool with water slide. This facility is located alongside the Bula Club and caters to both adults and children alike.
- Bula Club pool. This facility is located within the Bula Club area and is dedicated for children age 5 and younger.
- Water Mushroom shallow Toddlers Pool.

The minimum stay at the resort is 3 nights total, (three nights can be in more then one bure type) except minimum stay for travel between the dates of December 20, 2010 to January 2, 2011 inclusive, is seven nights.

Condiciones de reserva y cancelaciones

Reservation policy: $600 first-night deposit by cheque or credit card, full payment 45 days before arrival.

Cancellation policy: initial $600 deposit is nonrefundable. Cancellations made 45-15 days prior to arrival will receive 50% of the balance paid, less than 15 days prior to arrival no refund. Cancellation insurance is available on request.

These rates include all meals at the resort, all the complimentary resort activities and excursions, and complimentary ground transportation to and from Savusavu airport.
Dinner only is included on the arrival date, and breakfast only is included on the departure date.
For bures occupied by one adult and 2 children under the age of 12, the rate charged will be the double occupancy rate.
Extra persons age 13 and above are an additional US$210 per night.
The first two children age 12 and under in any bure are free at the resort. The 3rd and 4th child 12 and under in any bure is an extra US$130 per night for each child.

CHILD POLICY:
Children are welcome year-round in Oceanfront Suite, Oceanfront, Gardenview and 2-Bedroom Oceanfront bures.
Children are not accommodated in Point Reef or Honeymoon Point Reef Spa bures except for April 1 - 18 2010; June 7 - August 31 2010; September 6 - October 17 2010; and December 6 2010 - January 31, 2011.
Point Reef bures do not have child proof balconies for children under age three.
The Villa will accommodate children age 6 and older all year round. Children under 6 years are accommodated on a request basis only. Please contact our Reservations Office for authorization.
There are no infant rates. Children's rates apply from 0-12 yrs inclusive.

To confirm a reservation, they will need the following information:
1. The names of each person in the bure
2. If applicable, the age and birth date for children 12 or younger
3. Your preferred dates of arrival and departure
4. The bure accommodation that you prefer to reserve
5. A credit card for the non-refundable initial deposit of US$600.00 and the final payment which is automatically charged to the same credit card 45 days prior to your arrival at the resort. The resort accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. The initial deposit is non-refundable. The cancellation policy is: Cancel more than 45 days prior to arrival: US$600.00 penalty. Cancel between 45 and 14 days prior to arrival: penalty is 50% of accommodations reserved. Cancel less than 14 days prior to arrival: penalty is 100% of accommodations reserved. There is no refund for early departures or for no shows.
