Hotel La Casa di Lucio is located in the centre of the Sassi, the world-renowned quarter built into the limestone cliffs around Matera. This luxury boutique hotel consists of two authentic cave dwellings, plus two additional storeys built above them in the 17th Century.

Hotel La Casa di Lucio was entirely renovated by owners Lucio and Anna in 2001: vaulted ceilings, quirky niches and graceful stonework have all been fashioned to create an atmosphere of simple elegance that artfully blends the contemporary with the historical ambiance of Matera.

Hotel La Casa di Lucio offers seven unconventional yet beautifully elegant residences, all with private entrances and kitchenettes. There is one fabulous suite with a cross-vaulted ceiling and a terrace with stunning views over the Sassi.

Restaurant: Dining at La Casa di Lucio is a special affair. Meals are prepared by the owners with the emphasis on offering traditional local dishes from locally grown products. The kitchen is completely open so that guests can observe and interact with the process. The restaurant and bar is located in the unique atmosphere of the Matera cave-dwellings and beautifully furnished with antique furniture; breakfast is served on the terrace with wonderful views over the Sassi.

Facilities: For moments of relaxation and reflection, La Casa di Lucio also has a small, comfortable gallery furnished with divans and sofas and a small library with various books on local history.

Wired internet is available in the hotel rooms and costs EUR 0.50 per hour.
Private parking is possible at a location nearby (reservation is needed) and costs EUR 15.00 per day.
