The Kasbah du Toubkal, just 60 km. from Marrakech is situated at the foot of Jbel Toubkal - the highest peak in North Africa. A Berber hospitality centre, at 1800 metres above sea level, the Kasbah unobtrusively looks out over three major valleys carved out of majestic rocky mountains rising to over 4000 metres boasting unbeatable rooftop views.
This is the home of eleven villages of the Ait Mizane tribe of the High Atlas. So impressive is the scenery that film director Martin Scorsese chose Imlil as one of the locations for 'Kundun', his film about the Dalai Lama, temporarily transforming the Kasbah into a Tibetan monastery. Regardless of your level of fitness the gentle pace of Imlil and the Berber world is open to you.
The Kasbah du Toubkal is an extraordinary venture, the product of an imaginative Berber and European partnership. Activities: The ascent of Jbel Toubkal (4167 metres), North Africa's highest mountain, is achievable during the summer months without specialist climbing skills. Most people who are reasonably fit and determined can achieve this goal and the views are magnificent - on a clear day you can see the Sahara.
During the winter months the summit is only accessible to those climbers with crampon and ice-axe experience. Some equipment is available from local guides but you are strongly advised to bring your own.
Walking and Trekking:
Numerous possibilities are available, ranging from gentle rambles through the villages around the Kasbah to extended treks of one or more days. The longer treks will be supported by local guides and mules to carry your luggage, staying in the houses of the local inhabitants and/or mountain huts.
Ski mountaineering can also be arranged in the Toubkal Massif. There are a choice of outdoor gardens and terraces, trekking and mules available on request, rooms heated out of season.

5% taxes- in keeping with their commitment to the local community all invoices incur a 5% levy to the Village Association "Association ded Bassins d'Imlil" which covers the whole of the surrounding valleys. This association provides the ambulance that you see in Imlil which provides a service to the local population and visitors. If funds permit other cummunity projects are also understken eg rubbish clearance etc. There is also a plan to build a village Hammam.
Cancellation: forfeit 1 nights bed and breakfast accommodation or 50% of invoice whichever is greater.

Meals: Lunch 15 euro, dinner 20 euro, full board 35 euro, complimentary mint tea and coffee available throughout the day with snacks.
Ascent of Toubkal: 2 days, 1 night for 2 people fully inclusive of guides, mules, drinks, meals etc: 450 euro. Trekking prices per person with guide and mule: per half day 25 euro, full days trek incl. picnic 50 euro, extra trekkers per half day 10 euro, own mule to ride per half day 15 euro.
