Alexander House features the exclusive relaxed atmosphere Alexander Zhukov and his family wanted to create when they decided to open their own family-run small boutique hotel. They do not advertise the hotel as such; this allows guests to feel absolutely relaxed and gives Hotel Alexander House its particular club-like atmosphere. They do not have even the name Hotel Alexander House on the front door.
Each of the 19 rooms is different, and has its own particular character. The water in the rooms is both clean and safe to drink and all have heating in the winter, and air-conditioner for the summer months. Most feature beautiful views of the Kryukov Canal, the Fontanka River and both the Nikolsky and Troitsky cathedrals.
Alexander House is in an historical area of St Petersburg where heroes of the books of Gogol, Pushkin and Dostoevsky used to live. It is only a 20 minute walk to Nevsky Prospect. Alexander House is a short distance from Theatre Square (site of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Conservatory) and can be reached either through Theatre Square, and along Kryukov Canal Embankment, or along the Fontanka River Embankment, at the corner with Kryukov Canal by car.
The elegant building was built at the beginning of the 19th century for a prosperous St Petersburg merchant. During the reconstruction, the owners spent a lot of time making sure that they were restoring the building as close as possible back to its original appearance. For example, they found the original architect's drawings and used the design of the shutters - which give the hotel a very European look.

Peking:
The Chinese furnishings and decorative objects in 'Peking' go very well they think with the old St Petersburg white walls and exposed beams. There is a view of the Troitsky Cathedral.

'Stockholm' is in the mansard of the building. The roof beams here are very thick, and so they decided to go for a minimal decor, with small prints, and wall lights, so as to let the beams speak for themselves. There is a view of the Troitsky Cathedral.

'Copenhagen' is in the mansard of the building and the proportions are unusual. For this reason they wanted it to be as light as possible, and chose the palest beiges and creams they could find. There is a view of the Troitsky Cathedral.

Nairobi is situated on the ground floor of the building. Calm, cozy atmosphere, bright decorations and soft illumination promotes a very special sense of comfort. From the window there is a view on their nice summer garden. This room like the other rooms of their house differs with its unusual design; the bed, decorated with a canopy, is placed on a podium, and the whole design absolutely refers to the room's name.

Kyoto is one of the spiritual centers of Japan, and in this room they wanted to be faithful to the idea of calm and simplicity. There is also quite a romantic feel about it.

'Barcelona' is a two-bedroom apartment. The beautiful arched window of the living room is the focal point of the design. They kept the exposed brickwork, the exposed timbers and the original wooden floorboards, and just placed a curved sofa here, to work in harmony with the window. There is a view of the Kryukov Canal Embankment.
The living-room measures 40 sq m; bedroom 1 measures 16 sq m and bedroom 2 measures 15 m sq m. 12 LUXURY ROOMS
In 'Mexico' the old timbers of the building have a much lighter color than elsewhere, and so they wanted to make an impact with the Mexican paintings and wall designs. The room has a courtyard view.

'Paris' is as chic as you would expect it to be, with a dramatic red sofa placed beside the white drapes, and the white walls emphasizing the exposed brickwork and wooden floorboards. There is a view of the Kryukov Canal Embankment.

'Helsinki' is on the top floor of the hotel, and it has a very beautiful curved ceiling. They kept the furnishings as simple and straightforward as possible, to let the ceiling dominate. The room has a courtyard view.

Deli is situated on the second floor of the building. Each detail of the room's interior transfers the spirit of India. Wooden floor, consisting of boards, textile and not ordinary colors fully refer to the room's name. Bright, sated and at the same time cozy and calm atmosphere. In this spacious room there is a fully equipped kitchen with dishes. It is especially good for guests with children, in addition, there is a bar table.

Dining: The comfortable restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel, with views onto the Kryukov Canal, and is open 24 hours. Guests are offered a buffet breakfast here, from 08 a.m. until 11 a.m. During the day, and throughout the evening and nights, guests can sit in the restaurant, and have lunch, dinner, or just a coffee, before they head out.The kitchen is open all the night, so guests can eat whenever they feel like it! The menu features a good selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. They have a good wine list, excellent champagne, and some fine cigars. After dinner, guests often enjoy a hookah in the Chill-Out Lounge.
During the winter they light a log fire in the old fireplace, and you will often see guests come in, shake the snow off their boots and warm their toes in front of the blazing logs. During the season of White Nights when there is almost permanent daylight, they make full use of the courtyard garden, offering lunch and dinner outside. The restaurant is also equipped with two satellite televisions, so that you can catch up with the world news and sports.
Terrace:The terrace is open during the spring and summer season, from May until November. Think of it as an oasis in the centre of St Petersburg, a place of peace and quiet. The terrace is open until 23:00.
Wi-Fi:All of the rooms have a high-speed Wi-Fi Internet connection. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the hotel; this means that you can sit in the restaurant with your notebook, if you wish.
Getting around: The nearest metro stations are Sennaya Ploshad and Sadovaya. It is a very attractive walk from the metro to the hotel; there are various routes, and it will take you about 20 mins. If you do not want to walk, you can pick up a micro-bus at the corner of Sennaya Ploshad and Ulitsa Sadovaya.
During your stay in St Petersburg, they will be happy to help you with your transport requirements. They can arrange transfers to and from the airport and the railway station. They also offer a range of other travel options, including a car with a driver, or a minibus, if you are travelling in a group. You may hire a vehicle with them for a short period, or for as long as you are in St Petersburg.
Services include: visa support, registration, airport transfer, vehicle hire, guides and translators. Registration is free of charge for guests.
Excursions and Guides: The owners and staff are always happy to sit down with you and talk about the best things to do and see. Once you have decided, they will do everything they can to make sure that you get to the front of the line, or a seat in the stalls, or a table at a restaurant. The city is changing fast, and many new places of interest are opening; no matter how up-to-date your guide book claims to be, there is always something new.
Interpreters: They can provide a qualified interpreter, in English, French, German, Italian, and Finnish, into Russian. Please let them know in advance if you need an interpreter in another language.
Security: There is a safe deposit box at the reception and the hotel is monitored 24 hours a day by their permanent security guard, with the help of closed-circuit television monitors. Many guests value their privacy, and appreciate that the name of the hotel is not on the front door.
