After a decade of research, ORIXÁS HOUSE was founded in 1978 in the colonial village of EMBU DAS ARTES in São Paulo, Brasil, by Erich and Graça Steffen.
The purpose being to study, develop and preserve the Amerindians, African and European bases of Brasilian culture via its social antropology; especially in the arts, musical and culinary fields.

In 2001 the ORIXÁS ART HOTEL was built.
In this unique project, a rustic way of life is interwoven into this sophisticated and comfortable hotel.
Sculptures, paintings and other pieces of art find themselves integrated into the natural vegetation of the hotel.

In keeping with a strongly held belief that the hotel should be in harmony with the nature that surrounds it, Orixas Art Hotel was built using regional organic materials by trained local labor.
