Description: The Judge's Court Heritage VillageThe Judge's Court is a Country Manor located in the medieval hamlet of Pragpur, at an elevation of 2000 ft. in the Kangra Valley of the North Indian State of Himachal Pradesh. The property is classified as "Heritage". This, in a way, makes it India's first classified Heritage Country Manor with an ambience reminiscent of the turn of the 20th Century. It has two parts; an ancestral cottage which is over 300 years old, and The Country Manor built by Bhandari Ram for his son, Justice Sir Jai Lal. It has been lovingly restored and offers a rare kind of hospitality, peace, quite and exclusivity. The Judge's Court grows its own fruit, vegetables, wheat, maize and oil seeds. All efforts are made towards creating an organic environment. Milk is from a dairy on the premises. Water is exclusively piped from an ancestral mountain spring. Preserves are from the "green" produce of the orchard. The Kangra Valley, where the Village Pragpur is located is full of history. Founded about 3 centuries ago Pragpur has held onto the essence of an earlier era, unchanged shops, cobbled streets, ornamental village tank, mud plastered and slate roofed houses. It is also the home of the famous Kangra school of painting and possibly the world's, (most certainly India's) oldest ruling lineage. The Pragpur area is special and has a National Reserve with a variety of birds. Near Dharamsala and McLeodganji you can find the seat of The Dalai Lama. There are also several temples, Buddhist attractions, cultural and natural points of interest nearby.
