Hilton is a genuine ancestral home that has evolved from a place of privileged private pleasure to one that shares its charms with a few discerning travellers, most of whom are returning for the second or umpteenth time. The house has superb views from all windows, is furnished with period pieces that have been there for generations, has well tended, extensive grounds, herbaceous borders and herb and kitchen gardens. With only 6 guest rooms, you will have sufficient space to enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful place and your hosts can personally see to it that every guest experiences the most from their visit.
There has been a house at Hilton Park since the early 17th Century, though its name was finally changed to its present at the end of the 18th Century. After being burnt down in 1803 the house was rebuilt over the next 15 years or so. The two principal bedrooms and the dining room remain intact from this rebuilding, as does the north end. In the 1870s the owner transformed the house into an Italian palazzo; this involved digging out the basement so that it became the ground floor, introducing a new hall, inner hall, staircase and gallery, as well as a ballroom and boudoir.
Hilton Park is available for exclusive rental and is the perfect venue for private house parties, family celebrations or a weekend break in Ireland. They can guarantee exclusivity, total privacy and seclusion (their avenue is one mile long) and a completely relaxed ambience in beautiful surroundings, inside and out. Hilton can be taken on an exclusive basis for corporate entertainment, business meetings and brainstorming sessions, providing total privacy and seclusion for the most sensitive of situations. They completed the renovation of their old gate lodge in 2001 and it is now available for rental on a self catering basis.
Hilton is a superb centre for touring and much of the Northwest and Northeast are easily reached. The west and east coasts are one and a half-hours distant, the Giants' Causeway two hours and the Mourne Mountains one and a half-hours. Towns are approximately the following times away; Clones 10 mins, Monaghan, Cootehill and Cavan 30 mins, Carrickmacross, Enniskillen and Armagh 45 mins, Drogheda, Athlone and Donegal 90 mins, Sligo, Dublin and Belfast 2 hours.
