Situated only 90 minutes from Mexico City, in the state of Morelos, just off the recently completed super highway to Acapulco, a cobble-stoned promenade lined with statuesque Royal Palms leads you into the sixteenth century, by way of a magnificent Hacienda named San Gabriel, which is now a small but very exclusive hotel, surrounded by lush vegetation and blessed by a constant all-year round warm climate.
The main building was constructed in 1529 under the orders of Hernán Cortés. The stone walls which support immense barrel vaults have been painstakingly and meticulously restored over the years to give each corner an atmosphere of serenity.
In Colonial times it was a Franciscan Monastery. After the war of Independence it became the largest sugar plantation and sugar refinery in Mexico.
Not until recently has a new page of history been written about San Gabriel de las Palmas, as it has been converted into one of the most exclusive hotels in the world. But much more than a hotel, it is the residence of refined Mexican taste where you will feel more comfortable than at home.

The suites have been decorated with furniture and art objects from different epochs. Each has its own atmosphere: Arcangel, Campanario, Abuela, Vitral, Luna etc. The Nuptial suite is a combination of elegance, romance and history. Some suites feature a Jacuzzi. Activities: There are lots of activities within the Hacienda premises. There are two pools, either for swimming or for just sunbathing. There is also volleyball, badminton, tennis and paddle tennis. You can go horse-back riding near the water-holes or just tour the Hacienda. Go jogging or mountain biking. For in-door activities there's pool and billiards in the disco, and a game room with ping-pong, croquet and cable TV.
Nearby activities include: the spectacular caves of Cacahuamilpa, the rapids of the Amacuzac River and Tequesquitengo Lake (day- long excursions, water-skiing, rafting, and para-sailing),the town of Taxco (the world's largest silver producer), the marvelous pre-hispanic observatory of Xochicalco, the Amacuzac river for exciting kayak and raft adventures under careful supervision, and Lake Tequesquitengo for water sports and parachuting. The Santa Fe Golf Club is only 10 minutes away. An added attraction at San Gabriel de las Palmas are the cultural tours, a combination of culture and learning.
