Dining: The famous dinner parties are a major part of The Ridge experience so guests can just relax and not worry about driving out to dinner. Maralyn's excellent Mediterranean style cooking and sumptuous breakfasts are unforgettable. Hot and cold drinks (plunger coffee, teas, milo, soft drinks, beer and wine), fresh fruit and biscuits available in the open-plan kitchen.
Due to the location most guests take dinner on site as restaurants are 20 minutes away. Dinner package includes ? pre dinner drinks and nibbles, a 3 course dinner with Matakana Coast wines and tea/coffee and chocolates. Upon booking please tell them about any food dislikes and give them your first name so they can prepare your welcome/menu cards.

Activities: Bush walks, beaches, regional parks, bird sanctuaries, marine reserves and water sports are all available. This beautiful area provides a range of activities to suit all age groups and levels of fitness. Short bush walks on the property. Guided walks and tours can be arranged from the property. These can be customized to suit your interests and the time you have available.
From time to time they put together special weekends (Cooking, French, Native Bush and Birds, combined sea and land holidays).If you would like to organise a special weekend around your interests or hobby, please contact the hotel and they will do their best to arrange it.

Facilities include: Petanque court, outdoor dining area, a large outdoor area with deck chairs for sunbathing and enjoying the spectacular views, Chiminea - an outdoor clay fire - fabulous to sit around in spring/summer in the evenings. Indoors there is a guest lounge with leather sofas and open log fire Sky digital, VCR, DVD and surround sound stereo for sports, music and movie fans, guest library with information on things to see and do locally, regionally and nationally and also card games, and Pictionary.

Location: Since they are only 45 minutes from Auckland - you can also choose to visit attractions in the city and then come home to the peace and quiet of The Ridge when you've had enough! Visitors travelling to or from the Bay of Islands will find a convenient stopping place.
The hotel is 5 mins from the historic village of Puhoi where visitors can explore, other local activities and attractions include kayaking, horse riding, regional parks, Matakana wineries, day trips to Kawau Island and Tiritiri Matangi native bird sacturary, art and craft galleries and much more.
The Ridge is nestled into the sunny slopes of a high ridge at the head of the Waiwera estuary, near the historic village of Puhoi. Breathtaking panoramic views (stretching 50km in every direction on a good day) greet you and make you feel "on top of the world". Located at the end of a no-exit road, The Ridge offers guests peace and privacy.
