Le Chaufourg en Périgord, Bordeaux

In the heart of Périgord, overlooking the Isle river, this elegant 17th Century manor house, tucked away between park, gardens and meadows, is much more than a hotel. Georges Dambier has kept all the romantic charm and intimacy of his childhood home and has created a refined interior in which he receives his guests and shares his love of the Dordogne area.

Entering the gates that lead into the timeless courtyard, you have a sense of seclusion from the outside world. The white shutters and ivy-laced windows announce an interior full of charm and elegance where each object has a story to tell - a house so delightfully romantic that you'll want to stay forever. Georges aspires to give his guests the service he always looked for when he himself traveled the world: all modern conveniences, service with a smile, flowers, books, magazines, a breakfast to linger over... indeed, all those little details which make a stay memorable.

The Chaufourg is a vast terrace overhanging a meander in the river where on a secluded island, birds sing and leaves rustle in the wind. In the sixties, under the guidance of the famous landscape gardener Loup de Viane, Georges created new gardens above the river and around the emerald green swimming pool, each a small world in itself. Zig-zagging magnolias, honeysuckle, and box-hedges, pots of blue petunias bordered by lavender, herb and flower gardens are just some of delights that await garden lovers.
