Small Boutique hotels in Berlin |
Berlin is a beautiful sprawling city: spacious and charming with wide streets, numerous parks and a network of canals and rivers. Since the fall of the Wall, Berlin has embraced its identity as city of freedom, united in difference, and this atmosphere of anything goes has made it current capital of the avant-garde.
Artists and designers have flocked to its centre creating a vibrant culture that buzzes through the cafes and clubs. Prenzlauer Berg, the former East Berlin industrial district, is now one of the trendiest areas with renovated apartments in old tenement blocks, a plethora of hip bars and some of the best boutique hotels. |
Potsdamer Platz symbolises the new with ultramodern structures of glass and steel housing shopping centres and cinema complexes. While the former West-side is best represented on or near the Ku'damm, the grand avenue of named brands, chic restaurants and small luxury hotels.
But Berlin has a past and this is not forgotten. At significant spots around the city, Berlin has left books in various languages allowing visitors to walk through history. The Libeskind-designed Jewish Museum Berlin details two millennia of German Jewish history. As Berlin engages with its past so it redefines its future and this it does with an energy overwhelmingly present, youthful and positive. |
