Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and southern-most island in Europe. It boasts impressive geographical diversity, a fascinating history and picturesque villages. and Phaistos, among others. The capital of Crete is Heraklion, a busy city with bustling markets, excellent museums, hip cafes and smart shops. Rethymno is an idyllic town with pretty streets, a historic fortress, long sandy beaches and some of the best boutique hotels in Crete. Other small luxury hotels can be found near Chania, the beautiful Venetian harbour town towards the western end of the island.
