Bali, located eight degrees south of the equator, is a small island paradise known as the Island of the Gods. It offers beautiful beaches, intriguing temples, dense jungles, picturesque villages and a fascinating cultural heritage.
In comparison to the rest of the island, the capital Denpasar is a bustling city with the museum Pura Jagatnath, the state temple of Bali and the vibrant market all worth exploring. The beaches to the south of the island - Jimbaran, Kuta, Nusa Dua, Nusa Lembongan, Sanur and Soka - are perhaps Bali's greatest draw where sunbathing can be combined with surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling and diving.

Other major attractions include: The Orchid Garden; the ancient temple of Gunung Kawi; the active volcano Monte Agung, the highest point on the island; the crater lakes of Bratan and Batur; the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan temple built in the 17th century; the Ubud art market; the Negeri Propinsi Bali museum; the Sacred Monkey Sanctuary, and the house of Belgian artist Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur, which has been converted into a museum.
