Description: Château de Bagnols

The history of the Chateau speaks through its architecture; the moat, the medieval towers with their fortifications, betray its thirteenth century origins; the harmony of the golden-stoned courtyard, the classical proportions and the extraordinary wall paintings tell of its Renaissance inheritance, while many of the enchanting decorative details are witness to eighteenth century renovations. Four years have been spent lovingly and meticulously restoring this historic building to its former resplendent glory.

Little wonder the Chateau is a Grade 1 Listed Building.

The Chateau has 8 Rooms and 13 Suites. Six of these apartments are located in the Chateau itself and two in the Residence, which is located in an outer courtyard adjacent to the main chateau building.

The 21 rooms, including suites, are all decorated with exquisite care. Bedrooms have antique hangings and period furniture. Bathrooms have marble and antique panelling. There are meticulously restored wall-paintings from the 15th to the 18th Centuries.

From Paris the high speed train, The TGV, takes two hours to reach Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache stations. From Geneva the TGV takes two hours to Macon Lôche. Arrangements can be made to meet guests at all stations.

Facilities include: a magnificent "Cuvage" of over 450 sqms. with ancient wine presses. Three private salons, including one of 120 sqms. Audio visual equipment, "numeris" telephone, satellite television. Ancient Cave for wine tasting and instruction in oenology; visits to individual Beaujolais and Burgundy vineyards.

Special itineraries for walking, cycling and horseback tours. A gourmet picnic basket can be provided. Two 18 hole golf courses, 12 and 30 minutes away. Tennis courts in village.
