The Tsitouras Collection, Santorini
|Firostefani, 84700, Thira, Santorini, Cyclades Islands, GREECE.|
Description: The Tsitouras CollectionOn Santorini, legend is almost indistinguishable from reality. And there, on the island reputed to have been the land of Atlantis, the five houses of the Tsitouras Collection are perched on a thousand-foot cliff overlooking one of the most spectacular views in the Mediterranean.
The mansion that forms the nucleus of the Tsitouras Collection was built in 1780. Over the centuries, it has served as a school, post office, and private home, and is now an exclusive hotel. It was renovated in 1985 by the famous collector Dimitris Tsitouras, who converted it into five units, each with a separate theme and name, all demonstrating his personal style and respect for the Greek tradition and the needs of modern travellers alike.
These Houses have a capacity of between two and five persons each, and are named after the unique collection in each one: The House of the Sea, the House of the Winds, the House of Portraits, the House of Porcelain, and the House of Nureyev.
Features such as the domes, vaults, interior windows and skylights characteristic of Santorinian architecture are combined with tasteful decoration, modern furniture, antiques and some of Tsitouras's private collections of objets d'art including ancient amphorae, Byzantine icons, old maps, mariner's chests, paintings...
The hotel is famous for its quiet surroundings in harmony with nature. Guests love to gaze at the view and especially to watch the spectacular sunsets from our terrace, accompanied by the silhouette of Maria Callas.
Some of our most famous guests: Gianni Versace, Moschino, Joan Kennedy, Jack Lang, Demis Roussos, Harvey Keitel and others.
An a-la-carte breakfast is served throughout the day, on tables laid with silver cutlery and specially designed tableware. Lunch and dinner orders can be placed either from our exceptional menu, or in the form of a private 6-course dinner on the fabulous Maria Callas Terrace. There we offer Mediterranean cuisine, with emphasis on fresh seafood and fish. Alternatively, the menu can be arranged in consultation with our chef. To ensure maximum privacy, this arrangement can only accommodate one party at a time.
