In 2002, after years of abandonment, Hospes Hotels committed themselves to making the Maricel live again. The objective was to revive the original glamour and splendour of this majestic palace, which had been built at the end of the 40's, and to convert it into one of the most prestigious hotels in Palm, to make it a true focal point in the city.

The remodelling was carried out by the architect Xavier, Claramunt who chose to follow the sober regional style, adapting it to the palatial constructions of Palma and the stately country homes of the 16th and 17th centuries.
