At the feet of the Gavarres mountain range in the Baix Empordà, only a few kilometres from Girona, and the Costa Brava, one finds the town of Monells. The town took shape around the old castle, of which only ruins of the city walls remain. Monells allows the visitor to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst strolling under arches and through the stone doorways of the Plaça Major or admiring the bridge-homes in it's streets.

The Hotel Arcs de Monells is found in one of the most emblematic buildings of this small town, in Mas Fàbrega, which was the ancient hospital founded in 1364 by Maria de Xèrica, Countess of Empúries.

The outbuildings of the ancient building have been completely restored and fully equipped as exclusive hotel rooms, each one being dedicated to a historic figure from the world of art, music, architecture or literature, such as Salvador Dalí, Josep Pla, Jaume I or Margarida Xirgu.
