Built in the late 1860's by a Scottish spice merchant, the first owner's origins are reflected by the crenellated tower above the master suite and the prince of wales feathers in the fretwork above the sitting room doors. The hilltop colonial mansion over looking Galle Harbour would have allowed him to see clippers arriving from his native country. It has had several incarnations since, from family home to bank. The current owner, an Englishman who fell under Serendip's spell over ten years ago, has created a special place that offers comfort yet retains local charm and elegance.
