The small state of Massachusetts is located in the north-east of the U.S. on the Atlantic coast. It is the heart of New England and considered the birthplace of the United States as it was here that the first settlers arrived in 1620. It was also here that opposition to British control first arose, culminating in the War of Independence.
Massachusetts is famed for its quiet beauty. Among its chief attractions are Cape Cod and its sandy beaches, the Connecticut River Valley and the Berkshire Hills in the west. Boston, the main city, is a pleasant cosmopolitan city that is also considered the economic and cultural capital of New England.

Often mentioned as the most European of American cities, it is home to Harvard University, one of the most prestigious in the country, if not the world. Boston is also a major transport hub with its busy port, international airport and rail and road networks.
Our small luxury hotels in Massachusetts are mainly located along the coast or close to the city of Boston, in places such as Marblehead, Rockport and Concord. We have also selected several boutique hotels inland, close to the Berkshire Hills, as well as on the former whaling islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, both now major tourist destinations. |
