What you will find are rooms in the form of cottages, some on stilts as if tree houses and some cut into the side of a hill, hence you can practically sleep amongst the redwoods.

There are eight types of rooms offered:
Cliff: these rooms are single standing structures with an enclosed courtyard and glass railing on the deck, with ocean views. Private soaking tub on the deck.
Pacific: these rooms are a 2 storey duplex with separate entrances and ocean views. They have an extra sitting area overlooking the ocean.
Ocean: these rooms are single standing structures which have a curved beamed roof covered with a soft carpet of grass and wild flowers with ocean views.
Coast: the circular design of the coast house resembles the nearby redwood trees. These 2 storey duplexes have separate entrances and ocean views.
Peak: these rooms are single standing structures with an enclosed courtyard and glass railing on the deck, with views of the Santa Lucia peaks and mountains. Private soaking tub on the deck.
Tree: these single standing structures are built nine feet off the ground on stilts with a stairway to each entrance. Triangular in shape, they are situated on the inland side with views of trees and mountains.
Mountain: circular design exactly like the coast house but with views of the ventana peaks and mountains.
Butterfly: the six room building is shaped like a butterfly with wings outstretched. There are 3 floors one room on each floor, each room has a view of trees and mountains.

Rooms at Post Ranch Inn feature a king bed, fireplace, pull-out massage table, indoor spa tub, private deck, terry cloth robes, wet bar and complimentary mini bar.
Guests dine at the Sierra Mar Restaurant with spectacular views of the bay. It offers a creative menu including regional California cuisine with Asian, Mediterranean, Hawaiian and Pacific Rim influences in a menu which changes daily and offers a spectacular wine list complimenting the delicious meals.
Post ranch inn offers a number of weekly complimentary guest activities such as yoga, Tai Chi, Quigong, guided nature walks and herb garden talks. Fitness Room. Spa treatments are available including massage and aromatherapy, it was awarded four categories in Travel & Leisure's October, 2002 "World's Best Spas" Issue.
There are 3 pools, two basking pools located at either end of the ridge and kept at a constant 104 degrees, They offer a spectacular place to soak and take in the ocean views. The lap pool is perfect for a refreshing swim or a relaxing poolside sunbath. Aerobic and weight training equipment is located in the fitness room which is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00pm.
Several nights a week, from 9pm to 10pm, guests can observe the starry night sky above Big Sur through a ten-inch Meade telescope. Blue Whales can be seen in Big Sur from June through October as they migrate to central California.
