Opened in 1991, Altstadt Vienna in Austria occupies a converted Patrician house and is situated in one of Vienna´s oldest districts, the Spittelberg. This part of the city offers a historic ambiance with the Imperial Palace, the Ring Street, and the Museums Quarter in walking distance.

Each of Altstadt Vienna's 42 exquisitely decorated rooms and suites has a touch of the past and none of them is alike. In 2006 the renowned Italian architect Matteo Thun redesigned 9 extraordinary rooms for Altstadt Vienna, choosing a sensual belle époque elegance that reflects an excitingly modern design with a nod to Vienna's splendid historical past. Here dark colors dominate the interiors, exuding an erotic elegance underlined by damask wallpaper, crystal chandeliers and furnishings of superb and exquisite quality. Two Viennese product and furniture designers named Polka recently created two new rooms by focusing on comfort, transparency and elegance.

Altstadt Vienna features a superb breakfast buffet as well as a bar where you can relax next to the open fireplace and in the afternoon, enjoy complimentary tea and cake. The staff is always at guests disposal and Altstadt Vienna is well known for individual first-class service. 2012 the Altstadt Vienna has opened the new conference and creative room "level_41" offering 210 sqm of creative space for all kinds of events - exclusively for your convenience. The 28 double rooms, 12 suites and junior suites and 2 apartments run from simple to quirky. All have been designed to meet individual needs but no two are alike. Several rooms have louvered windows with street views, one has a kitchen, another a terrace looking out over the rooftops. Owner Otto Ernst Wiesenthal has worked hard to transform each room into an art gallery, while retaining the original old-fashioned charm. Their high-ceiling rooms are decorated with stucco on the lower floor, such as the lovely Freud, Camilla or Honeymoon suites. If you move up a floor to the rooms under the mansard roof, the view stretches out over the roofs of the city.
