Fregate is a fifteen minute helicopter flight east from Mahe. It lies 4 degrees south of the equator, and far, far away from the clatter of modern life: approximately 1,000 miles south of India, 1,000 miles east of Africa, and 1,000 miles north-east of Madagascar.
Type of rooms: Fregate Island Private16 (2,000-square-foot) villas. Built from traditional materials such as native mahogany and African teak in a simple post-and-lintel style, the villas are topped off with dense thatched roofs. 2 nestle in their own private tropical gardens, and these are particularly good choices for families vacationing with young children.
Each villa was situated to make it feel like a part of the surrounding landscape, and to ensure maximum privacy and seclusion for the guests. Sliding glass walls and French doors that can be opened to the elements help to further blur the line that separates inside from outside.
With traditional appearance and supremely laid-back ambiance, the villas come well-equipped with DVD machines and CD players.

Dining: There are 2 main restaurants, one in Fregate House and one in Plantation House, or you can enjoy your meals in the privacy of your villa. The open-air Pirates Bar serves light lunches and snacks.
The resorts philosophy of the unique island dining experience, makes it possible to dine nearly wherever you want on the island. In keeping with the resort's commitment to providing its guests with the finest quality while at the same time coexisting successfully with the islands fragile wildlife, the chefs create gourmet meals using produce grown hydroponically in their gardens. This ensures a steady supply of tomatoes, eggplant, squash, cucumbers, peppers and other vegetables. A small plantation yields home-grown pineapples, oranges, breadfruit, bananas, and a wide variety of herbs and spices. Naturally, there's fresh fish in abundance.

We offer our guests three sports boats, a flotilla of two hobie cats and a professional dive club and we have our own private harbour with floating pontoon moorings. Bring home your catch of the day and one of the chefs will serve it to you for dinner. There's a fully equipped gym, a fresh water swimming pool, an extensive library and a children's game room. Golfers can head to the course on nearby Praslin Island.
Spa: Located on one of the peaks of the island, approach the spa through a natural rock archway under the roots of banyan trees. The spa has various pools and rocks situated around the buildings that echo the natural local Creole architecture. The terraces have open-air stone baths and massage tables to enable treatments to be given outdoors. An apothecary will make many of the remedial therapies on location from native ingredients and will allow guests to choose their preferred treatment. Oils imported from India and traditional therapies for ailments, detoxification, rejuvenation and revitalization available.
Two 25 Ft swimming pools built into the rocks near the Fregate House. The pools infinity edge spills over the horizon into a waterfall which cascades down the rocks towards the ocean.
Tennis court area amid lush tropical palms and trees, a thatched gazebo provides welcome shade and a place for refreshment.
Childrens Castaway Club: on arrival children 'check in' to the club and receive their own passport and adventure rucksack with various surprise items for survival and discovery. They explore the island, make new friends and learn new skills. Various eco-adventures in the forest allow the children to discover the rare and special creatures of Fregate. A wide variety of other activities are available including basketball, tennis, rock climbing, kite flying and water sports.
To help you discover the island unparalleled wildlife, island ecologists are on hand to guide hikes through the island's tropical jungles and along its rugged coastline.
Instruction and certification in scuba diving and snorkeling is available at the PADI-certified dive center. To the north of Fregate is Chimney Rocks, one of many popular diving locations where you can explore the dazzling underwater world that encircles the island.
Mountain bike your way along trails that cross the island, go Hobie Cat sailing, book a sunset cruise or simply stay at home and have a massage on your deck.
The island is small, which makes it ideal for exploring on foot. It covers a mere 740 acres (1.15 square miles, or 3 square kilometers). The highest point is Mount Signal, which reaches a peak of 125 meters (410 feet). The year round temperature is 24-27° Celsius (75-86° F), and because the Seychelles lies outside of the cyclone belt severe weather is highly unlikely.
The connection between Mahe, the main island upon which the Seychelles International Airport is located, and Fregate Island is by private chartered aircraft (Helicopter). The connection has to be booked in advance by the guest at the appropriate rate. Reservations for this connection can be made through Fregate Island Travel GmbH.
