This charming country house lies in Gittisham, the recent film location for a Rosemunde Pilcher novel and described by Prince Charles as the "Ideal English Village" with its pretty Devon cob and thatch cottages, Norman Church and Village Green - a picture of times gone by.

The stunning Caroline interior of Combe is the essence of an English country house with carved oak panelling and original 18th Century family portraits. Enormous arrangements of fresh scented flowers tower on treasured antique tables and bookcases. Ascend the grand staircase to one of 15 ensuite bedrooms.

The hotel has a restaurant serving select cuts of meat and game in season, or local, freshly caught fish, all sourced from West Country suppliers. Add to this seasonal vegetables and aromatic herbs, hand picked from Combe's high walled kitchen and you have true gourmet excellence. New for 2006 is Combe Thatch Cottage - a romantic thatched Cottage for 2 hidden in the woods, with its own high-walled garden - it's a country hideaway that dreams are made of. We've enhanced the old but embellished with the new.
