Description: The Howard

The Howard is a traditional Scottish Georgian town house hotel. Originally built as homes in the 1820's these three buildings which are now 'The Howard' are part of the city's New Town in Edinburgh and they became a hotel just after the Second World War. In late 1995 the hotel was bought by 'The Town House Company' owned by Peter Taylor. Since the purchase considerable redecoration and further improvements have taken place to ensure that the highest standard of accommodation is maintained this includes an excellent Dining Room and dedicated Butler service.

The Howard is the most discreet 5-star hotel in Edinburgh, you will be treated like a guest in a private residence. During your stay, you'll be taken back to the time of traditional Georgian pampering in one of eighteen individually characterised rooms. From the moment you arrive your dedicated Butler will tend to your every need from unpacking your bags to serving a three-course dinner in your suite.

The Howard is located only ten minutes from George Street, Edinburghs' Bond Street and close to many of the city's historic attractions. One famous UK politician said on his arrival this year, "At last, a real hotel."

18 beautifully appointed, individually characterised bedrooms sumptuously furnished with tasteful reminders of the hotels historic connections in one of Edinburgh's most celebrated New Town cobbled streets. For an even more discreet experience there are three exclusive suites with their very own terraced gardens and private entrances.

An infra-red keyboard is used to access these facilities via the television. Free standing roll top bathtubs, Jacuzzi, power and double showers are some of the features in several of the bathrooms, dry-cleaning services and floris of London toiletries. Breakfast in bed or in The Atholl, served how you want it, full Scottish or something lighter a choice of 5 star in-room dining or Dining at The Atholl.
The Butler is there to ensure that your every household need is met, often before it is requested. Your Butler's skills will cover such day-to-day tasks as valeting, surfing the web, polishing your shoes, taking care of your dry-cleaning requirements, arranging dinner parties and organizing your social itinerary.
