The Simpson House Inn is secluded in an acre of English gardens surrounded by tall hedges and sandstone walls that screen the Inn from the tree-lined street. It is only a five-minute walk from Santa Barbara's restaurants, theaters, museums and shops.

The historic, East-lake style Victorian estate was built by Scotsman Robert Simpson in 1874. Lovingly restored by the Davies family, the estate retains the integrity of its heritage. The Simpson House has been honored with a Structure of Merit Award, as well as Landmark status by the Landmarks Commission for its unique architecture and period setting.

All rooms are double occupancy except for 1. The only room that would accomodate 4 people is the Carriage Room with a king bed, a twin size day bed and an added aerobed.

In the main house:
Mary Simpson Room: This charming, cozy room features authentic Victorian wallpaper in rose tones that reflect the whimsical Aesthetic Movement of the time. It has an antique queen bed and a detached private bath
Katherine McCormick Room: These intimate quarters, richly decorated in terra cotta and indigo, reflect the renowned Victorian design style of Christopher Dresser. This Santa Barbara accommodation has an antique queen bed and a private shower with Victorian pull chain toilet and shower.
Sun Room: A very cozy and bright room decorated in rose and green with white wicker furniture and a cast-iron queen bed. This room has a quaint private bathroom. There are views of the gardens and mountains from the large private deck.
Margaret Simpson Room: Strikingly decorated with an authentic Victorian wallpaper of green and gold, this room has a rich, comfortable feeling. It has an antique European queen bed and private bath with a pedestal sink, claw foot tub, and unique brass shower.
Parlor Room: Authentic Victorian wallpaper, bay window and a gas-burning fireplace characterize this first floor room. The Oriental rug and bookshelves add a true parlor touch. This exquisite room has a king four poster bed, and a claw foot tub with antique brass shower in the private bathroom.
Robert & Julie Simpson Room: This spacious room has an elaborate Victorian wallpaper treatment. It features an antique king bed, comfortable sitting area and private bathroom with an old-fashioned claw foot tub/shower. French doors open onto a large private deck overlooking the gardens.

Separate from the main house:
Garden Room: Nestled under the oak trees with a lovely view of the lawns and gardens. Large French doors open onto the room, which has a queen bed and bath with shower. This cozy room has antique pine floors and Oriental rugs, a vaulted ceiling with a skylight and a bay window.
Old Barn - Weathervane Room: The carefully restored carriage house room blends elegance and luxury. The Weathervane room is located upstairs. French doors open onto the balcony. The king bed area is bright with skylights. The sitting area by the wood burning fireplace is separate. The bathroom has a spacious tile & glass shower.
Old Barn - Hayloft Room: The upstairs Hayloft room blends the old with the new. French doors open onto a deck overlooking the gardens. The room has a king bed, a loveseat by the wood burning fireplace and antique furniture. The bathroom has a spacious tile & glass shower.
Old Barn - Tack Room: located downstairs with a private wraparound porch. French doors open into the room with a king bed, a loveseat by the wood burning fireplace and antique furniture. There is a spacious tile & glass shower.
Old Barn - Carriage: a spacious downstairs room. It features a king bed, loveseat by the wood burning fireplace, antique furniture and a whirlpool tub. The bathroom is handicap accessible. A twin daybed is set into a private alcove.The only room that could accomodate 4 people.

4 Cottages:
Cottage - Abbeywood: crafted to reflect luxurious elegance. With a private intimate fountain courtyard the cottage has an antique canopied queen featherbed, loveseat by the fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub luxuriatingly set into a bay window.
Cottage - Greewich: crafted to reflect luxurious elegance. With a private intimate fountain courtyard the cottage has an antique canopied queen featherbed, loveseat by the fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub luxuriatingly set into a bay window.
Cottage - Plumstead: Entered through the private intimate fountain courtyard the two story Plumstead Cottage has a loft bedroom with antique canopied queen featherbed & private bath. The sitting room features the loveseat by the fireplace and the Jacuzzi tub for two set into a bay window.
Pendle Cottage: spacious & secluded. The loft bedroom has a king canopied bed and bath with large tiled shower. The main floor sitting room features a wood burning fireplace and full kitchen. Back patio door opens onto enclosed fountain courtyard.
