Maintaining its beautiful Dutch and British roots, including its historic exterior and carved windows, the interior has been given a chic facelift by owner and interior designer Niki Fairchild. This charming boutique hotel now offers luxurious accommodation and great food in a tranquil, secluded location.

Ideal for relaxing escapes to this delightful corner of Sri Lanka's unspoilt southern coast, Maya is within easy reach of some fabulous beaches, but away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist resorts. The house features a unique l-shaped indigo coloured swimming pool, fantastic for cooling dips at any time of the day. The immense garden has a cool outdoor dining and bar area, and there are hammocks and lounge chairs dotted around the garden for moments of quiet, intimate relaxation.

Maya's in-house chef creates delicious Sri Lankan specialities along with unique fusion dishes, which can be enjoyed in the elegant dining area or on the outdoor terrace. With just five individually designed suites, located in the original historic villa and the charming new wing, intimate, relaxing stays are guaranteed at Maya. The whole property can be reserved as a villa for groups of friends or families.

Thekka:
Thekka in the Old House opens out to the sky-blue pool. Original 25ft high ceilings, original intricate lattice work, a towering king-size 4 poster bed draped with a mosquito net and antique fittings, evoke that colonial chic atmosphere, so unique to Maya. Thekka and Khumbuk are ideal family rooms. One king-size bed.
Khumbuk:
Khumbuk in the Old House opens out straight to the sky-blue pool. This blissfully quiet room has a view of the garden. The beautifully high ceilings provide space and good ventilation. Similar in style and layout, Khumbuk is opposite Thekka in the Old House. These 2 rooms are ideal for family holidays at Maya. One king-size bed.
Amba:
Amba's spacious suite in the New Wing is an embodiment of modern luxury: clean lines, a dashingly decorated living space and a large luxury bathroom. The sliding doors in both the room and the bathroom open out to a large private courtyard - an invitation to simply relax and take in the surrounding nature. One king-size bed.
Ehela:
Next to Amber, Ehela's spacious suite in the New Wing is quintessentially modern: elegant interiors, a stylishly decorated living space and a large luxury bathroom. The sliding doors opening out to a large private courtyard are an invitation to simply relax and take in the surrounding nature. Identical to Amber but more private, this is one of the most popular rooms at Maya. One king-size bed.
Kohomba:
Kohomba offers the privacy of its own garden and courtyard. Finely decorated and retaining the sleek style of the Villa, Kohomba's sliding doors open out to a covered courtyard, extending directly to its own private garden. Tranquility on the doorstep. One king-size bed.
