Dedicated to this famous Sicilian author who lived in Florence in 1869, where he set his novel "Eva". To be exact, he set it in the streets between Piazza d'Azeglio and the Teatro della Pergola. This bright, fresh room decorated in Mediterranean colours, with its ceiling fresco representing the dawn, overlooks a residential street. Local craftsmen made the furniture from original designs, and the curtains are of pure linen. 24" LCD television. The very large travertine bathroom has a spectacular shower. Dedicated to this historian and essayist who was German by birth but French by adoption. Hillebrand lived in Florence during the period following the unification of Italy, where he worked as a correspondent for numerous international publications, including the "Times". This is a very intimate room in warm tones of cream and chocolate, and furnished with surprising, specially made design pieces. It overlooks an internal garden and has a view of the beautiful Synagogue, built in 1882. The travertine bathroom, with its large shower, is particularly spacious and innovative. Dedicated to a courageous female British author and journalist who took an active part in Garibaldi's most important campaigns, and who lived in Florence in the period following the unification of Italy. This is a spacious room that guarantees complete privacy; its pearl grey and bronze tones harmonise with the romantic fresco on the ceiling, which were discovered during the restoration work. The bedroom and bathroom both overlook a lovely nineteenth-century private garden. The furnishings, which were designed and made to measure, are elegant and understated. 32" LCD television. Dedicated to this great Russian novelist, who lived in Florence between 1869 and 1870 and where he finished his novel "The Idiot", this is the most theatrical and opulent of the rooms in 1865 Residenza d'Epoca. Its large window overlooks a residential street. The colours are a combination of eggplant and antique rose, to echo the beautiful fresco on the ceiling. The curtains are of linen and damask velvet, and the furniture is a mix of design and antique pieces. The travertine bathroom has a separate shower. 32" LCD television. This is the only Junior Suite in 1865 Residenza d'Epoca. Measuring 43 square metres, it is dedicated to the great American author who lived in Florence for long periods, at the time when it was the capital of Italy and where he set parts of his novel "The Portrait of a Lady" (which is also a famous movie). This is the most classically decorated room in the house. Decorated in neutral tones, it overlooks an internal garden. The walls are painted in the exclusive House White shade made by Farrow & Ball, and harmonises to perfection with the tones of the frescoed ceiling. The furniture is in antique walnut and the cream curtains are of silk. The bathroom has a large window and has a separate WC, as used to be the custom. The bathtub is in cast iron and the shower compartment is in travertine. LCD television. One king-size bed. One optional extra bed is available on request for this room.
