The University of Heidelberg, the oldest in Germany, has given it a patina of a wise student city. Founded in 1386, there is still a historic building on the Universitatplatz.

   But Heidelberg is, above all, a charming intermediate city, in the southwest of Germany, with a splendid historical heritage. The Haupstrasse, one of the longest pedestrian streets in Germany, with colorful Baroque buildings, is a delightful walk that will take you to the Market Square, in the heart of the old city. In the opposite direction, the so-called walk of the Philosophers gives magnificent views over the city. The Castle of Heidelberg is another of its emblems.
