The renowned Amalfi Coast is found in the south of the Sorrento Peninsula, located just south of the city of Naples and bathed in the Tyrrhenian Sea, part of the Mediterranean Sea. It is some 30 kilometers of shoreline with alternating cliffs and cozy little coves, deep valleys and majestic mountains as well as small islands. In addition to the beaches, the area offers dozens of well indicated walking paths that allow us to discover terraced orchards of orange trees, lemon trees, and olive trees overlooking the seas as well as pine and oak forests. Limoncello, a typical local liqueur, is made from soaking lemons in alcohol and is to be consumed very cold. It is also used in pastries and desserts.

All the picturesque historic towns along the coast were included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1997. Don't miss Amalfi, Ravello and Positano, which feature important architectural sites. This entire area has been a vacation destination since the Roman Empire and numerous artists, such as Giovanni Boccaccio, Richard Wagner, John Steinbeck and Greta Garbo have spent time here. State highway 163, a narrow windy road which snakes through the local towns offers the wonderful scenery of continuous panoramic views of the sea.
