Since September 2008, this charming property has been the property of the National Trust, and now offers luxurious accommodation, fine cuisine and bespoke service in a magnificent heritage setting.Ideally placed for both business or pleasure in York, Middlethorpe Hall & Spa is just four kilometres from the centre of the city, and is within easy reach of many of York's most important landmarks and attractions: York Minster, Clifford's Tower, the National Railway Museum. On site, guests can take advantage of the hotel's excellent spa facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool bath, steam room, sauna, and a full range of treatments and massages. Main House Deluxe Double/Twin Rooms: Located on the second floor of the historic hall, overlooking the south lawn or the beech avenue, the five deluxe rooms contain double or twin beds, and are decorated with antique furniture and paintings. They are equipped with flat screen TVs with DVD players and a trouser press. Main House Four-poster bedrooms: Ideal to celebrate special occasions, our two spacious four-poster rooms overlook the south lawn. They both have a king-size bed, and are decorated with antiques and fine paintings consistent with the Georgian period, and equipped with flat screen TVs with DVD players, and a trouser press. The Lady Mary Suite: Situated on the first floor of the historic hall and overlooking the beech avenue, this junior suite contains a living room with desk and sofa, a dressing room and a double bedroom with a queen size bed. It has flat screen digital TVs with DVD players, and a trouser press. The Duke of York Suite: This spacious accommodation, named after the stay of His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, is the hotel's flagship suite. It is situated on the first floor at the top of the carved staircase, and overlooks the beech avenue to the north. This very special apartment is decorated with antiques and fine paintings consistent with the 'William & Mary' period and has its own fire-place. The living room contains a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a large writing desk and occasional tables, while the comfortable bedroom offers a 'coronet' king-size bed, a dressing table and chest of drawers. Courtyard Single Rooms: The two Courtyard single rooms are south facing and overlook the formal gardens. They are ideal for a short stay, and are equipped with a double bed, flat screen TV with DVD player and free-view channels. Both have a desk and tub chair. Courtyard Standard Double/Twin Rooms: These comfortable and traditionally decorated en-suite double rooms have a double bed or two single beds. They are equipped with a two-line telephone with ISDN data socket and voice-mail, trouser press, hair-dryer and combination TV/DVD player. (No roll-away beds can be added to these rooms.) Courtyard Superior Double/Twin Rooms: Charming en-suite superior double room furnished with a double bed, king-size bed or 2 single beds. Tastefully decorated in a country house style, the rooms overlook the 18th century courtyard or the garden and are equipped with a two-line telephone with ISDN data socket and voice-mail, trouser press, hair-dryer and combination TV/DVD player. (No roll-away beds can be added to these rooms). Courtyard Junior Suite: 'The Colonel Wilkinson Suite' is situated on the ground floor. It offers a traditionally decorated living room in the shades of blue and red, with a large antique writing desk, sofa and armchair, a queen bedded room with a dressing table. Both rooms have flat screen TVs with DVD players. Sir Henry Thompson Suite: Situated on the ground floor, this very pleasant suite is decorated in different shades of yellow. It has a king/twin bedroom with a dressing area, a living room equipped with an antique writing desk, sofa and armchair, a kitchenette containing tea/coffee making facilities and a large bathroom with double sink and a separate shower. The Paget Suite - Courtyard Deluxe Suite: This beautiful suite is situated on the ground floor with windows opening to the scented gardens to the south and to the Courtyard on the north. It offers a large living room with writing desk, sofa and armchairs, a spacious bedroom with king/twin bed in the shades of cream and pink and a large bathroom. This suite is especially suitable for guests requiring easier access. The Sir Francis Terry Suite - Courtyard Deluxe Suite: 'The Sir Francis Terry Suite' is located on the first floor of the Courtyard with windows overlooking the courtyard and the meadow next to the Spa. It has apparent ceiling beams in the spacious living room and king-sized bedroom, two bathrooms and a dressing room. The Garden suite: This ground floor suite located in Middlethorpe Court has its own parking space and a terrace garden with a pond. It contains a spacious dining/living room, two bedrooms: one with a king/twin bed and a second one with a single bed and a kitchen. Ideal for a small family. The Cottage Suites: Situated in a Victorian Cottage secluded in its own garden, down a little lane with their private parking space, these two charming suites can inter-connect to welcome an entire family. One suite is located on the ground floor, with its private garden equipped with a table and chairs during the summer. It contains a queen bedded room, a living room with comfortable sofa, large writing desk, gas fireplace, and a mini-kitchen. The suite is equipped with a TV and DVD player. Room 33 Cottage Suite Living Room: The second suite, located on the first floor has two bedrooms - one with a queen size bed, and a smaller one with a single bed; a living room with comfortable sofa, desk and fire place and a kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities.
