Originally built during the First World War by a shipping magnate, it was converted into a hotel after the Second World War when it was donated to the Danish-Norwegian Cooperation Fund in appreciation of the food aid Norway received during this period. Lysebu now offers luxurious accommodation in an unsurpassable natural setting.
Lysebu boutique hotel has 86 rooms and suites, all elegantly appointed and spacious. There are 21 single rooms, 28 double rooms, 36 junior suites and the exclusive Lysebu suite, which measures 60 square meters. Guests at Lysebu can take advantage of its year-round indoor swimming pool, 16 metres long, and the sauna and fitness room. The hotel has an exclusive restaurant and a spectacular wine cellar, with over 5,000 bottles of the most distinguished vintages. Wine tastings can be arranged.
Lysebu is perfectly located for outdoor activities, irrespective of the season. Winter sports lovers are well catered for, with alpine ski runs and Nordic ski trails close by. The Holmenkollen ski jump and museum is also just a short distance away. In spring and summer guests can practise hiking, cycling and Nordic walking on the endless trails in the Nordmarka wilderness area and the ancient forest of Orreskogen, with trees up to 300 years old.
