The Duero river and its bridges trace through the character of this attractive Portuguese city, the second largest in terms of the number of inhabitants. The Don Luis I Bridge, built at the end of the 19th century with a large iron arch and two floors to cross it, is an icon of the city. To get the best views of the city, go up to the Baroque style Tower of the Clerigos on the hill of the hanged. The old trams give it a nostalgic feeling.

Visit the legendary centenary Lello and Irmaó bookstore which inspired J.K. Rowling, creator of the magical universe of Harry Potter. If you arrive by train to Oporto at San Bento Station, look at the tile murals. The facades of the churches in the center, such as the Chapel of Souls, are also spectacular.

La Sé, as the cathedral is known, dates from the 12th century and is one of the most ancient buildings in the city.
