Description: The PeppertreeNestled in the heart of the Malborough wine region, just outside Blenheim, The Peppertree is a small luxury boutique lodge, set in a lovingly restored and preserved Edwardian villa, originally built in 1901. Surrounded by ten acres of farmland, vineyards, olive groves and beautiful gardens, this charming retreat offers exclusive accommodation in a unique combination of a heritage atmosphere, all modern conveniences and old-world hospitality.The perfect base for exploring the region, guests at The Peppertree can enjoy touring the vineyards and wineries, high country horse treks, golf, garden tours, fishing, cruising, or helicopter adventures, among many other options. On site, The Peppertree boasts a large swimming Pool with comfortable deck chairs, a petanque court, lawn croquet and a small gym. Younger guests will also be charmed by the friendly sheep in the paddock. This small luxury hotel also has its own boutique vineyard, right in front of the historic homestead. In season, guests can get involved in hand-picking the grapes, and tastings are of course organised on a regular basis. The Peppertree also produces its own olives and olive oil, the perfect gourmet accompaniment to a fine glass of wine and a snack in the gardens. Type of rooms: The PeppertreeThe Venetian Suite:Newly created in keeping with the Edwardian style, tastefully furnished and mirroring the charm of Venice. This spacious room is most comfortable and has access to a verandah and garden where ferns, bamboo and native shrubs provide a wonderful backdrop to the delightful water feature. It's the perfect spot to unwind at the end of an active day and it also offers an alternative entrance. This suite has full wheelchair access and facilities for the disabled with twin or king size bed options. The attractive ensuite bathroom with shower is on the same level and is generously proportioned. The Garden Suite: Guests who need a delightful place to relax will enjoy the peace on offer in the Garden Suite. This generously proportioned and tastefully decorated room includes a beautifully New Zealand crafted solid wood stand-alone wardrobe complete with full length mirror. The room boasts imposing French doors leading on to a private verandah and garden with a calming water feature, inviting guests to enjoy the evening sunshine. There are twin or king size bed options and attractive New Zealand prints adorn the walls. The attractive en-suite bathroom with a shower and non-slip tiles is reached down a step. The Sunset Suite: Aptly named for its aspect that allows guests to enjoy the sun setting in the west, this pretty room has French doors leading to a private garden. Here, the songs of bellbirds, fantails and other New Zealand native birds greet guests in the morning. Climbing roses, pretty hedges, shrubs and blossom trees surround this sanctuary where guests may choose to take breakfast alfresco. The garden allows private access to the suite. An attractive en-suite adjoins the Sunset room, providing a shower and special non slip tiles under foot. The Dormer Suite: Nestled under the dormer roof, up a short flight of stairs, is a charmingly romantic suite of rooms ideal for a honeymoon couple seeking quietness, privacy and seclusion. The highlight of the room is the magnificent white queen size bed, prettily draped in white muslin and bedecked with cushions and pillows. A balcony overlooks the courtyard and an attractive garden and the eye is drawn over the trees to the majestic mountains in the distance. The large adjoining en-suite is light and spacious with tiled walls, and incorporates a spa/bath, shower and a delightful little picture window depicting The Peppertree design, after which the villa was named. The William Morris Suite: The charm of yesteryear is evoked on entering this large, gracious room with a king-size bed and antique furniture. A grand kauri fireplace commands attention as does the genuine 'turn of the century' light fitting, original wallpaper and matching frieze. The room is spacious and airy, attracting all day sun through large windows and double doors. The doors open out on to a verandah and garden, and offer an alternative entrance. In the en-suite bathroom with shower the eye is drawn to the free-standing bath opposite a magnificent wooden fireplace with antique tile surrounds. It is tastefully furnished in keeping with the theme of the homestead. All rooms feature: dial ISDN telephone; colour TV; fridge and mini-bar. Coffee and tea, home-baked cookies and fresh fruit, electric blankets, a nice selection of toiletries, a hair-dryer and a high quality bathrobe are also provided.
