Located on Broad Street in the heart of Charleston's historic district and a few steps from the stunning heritage mansions on South of Broad, The John Rutledge House Inn is situated in a designated National Historic Landmark, originally built in 1763. After a long and eventful history, the house was converted to a bed and breakfast at the end of the twentieth century, and offers luxury boutique accommodation and first class service in a unique heritage setting.

Just footsteps from the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, The John Rutledge House Inn is also within easy reach of many more of Charleston's most important landmarks and attractions, including the French District, Waterfront Park, Rainbow Row and countless art galleries, theatres and museums. Family owned and run, The John Rutledge House Inn is ideal for couples, families and history buffs alike, and has just nineteen individually designed rooms and suites, situated in both the main house and the carriage house. Heritage details abound in all rooms, including period antiques, Italian marble fireplaces, the original inlaid wood floorings, graceful ironwork and plaster mouldings.

Every morning, The John Rutledge House Inn offers a delicious deluxe continental or cooked breakfast, served in guests' rooms, the ballroom, or the courtyard. Complimentary afternoon tea is also served in the ballroom or the piazza overlooking Broad Street, and guests are also invited to traditional evening port, sherry and brandy.

Main House Ground Floor Rooms:
The ground floor rooms, accessed by the stairs, feature period antiques, reproduction furniture, and private bathrooms with shower (tub not available). Guests can relax and enjoy these luxurious Charleston bed and breakfast accommodations. One king or two queen Tempur-Pedic® beds.
Carriage House Rooms:
These secluded carriage house rooms add a bit of romance and privacy to guests' stays and boast period antiques, reproduction furniture, and private bathrooms. Bathrooms will have either a shower or shower/tub combination. Please note in your reservation if you require a tub. Second-floor rooms are accessible only by stairs. Pet Friendly. One king or two double Tempur-Pedic® beds.
Main House Deluxe Rooms:
Guests can rejuvenate in the bed and breakfast's bright, spacious main house deluxe rooms that feature period antiques and private bathrooms with shower (tub not available). Please note that deluxe rooms are accessible only by the grand staircase. Additional features include: Italian marble gas fireplaces, original wood flooring and plaster mouldings, canopy beds in all King rooms, 12-foot high ceilings. King or two double Tempur-Pedic® beds.
Main House Mini Suite:
Guests can stretch out in 46 square metres of luxury in this main house mini suite, elegantly appointed with period antiques, reproduction furniture, and a canopy bed. This suite is accessed only by the grand staircase. In addition, guests can enjoy enjoy an Italian marble gas fireplace, original wood flooring and plaster mouldings, a spacious bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a walk-in shower, and 12-foot high ceilings. One Tempur-Pedic® king bed.
Main House Grand Suites:
These 84 square metre suites live up to their name, with grandeur that includes canopy beds, period antiques, and reproduction furniture. Original wood doors separate the sleeping and living areas to accommodate entertaining or added privacy. Boasting 12-foot high ceilings, these suites also feature Italian marble gas fireplaces, original, elaborate parquet flooring and plaster mouldings, and spacious bathrooms with whirlpool tub and a walk-in shower (in select rooms). Guests are kindly informed that these rooms are only accessible via stairs. King or queen-size Tempur-Pedic® beds, sleeper Sofa.
