|Untergass 28, 8193, Eglisau, Zurich Canton, SWITZERLAND.|
Description: Gasthof HirschenGasthof Hirschen stands by the banks of the river Rhine in the beautiful village of Eglisau. Set in a magnificently restored traditional guest house, originally built in the 16th century, this charming boutique property offers luxurious accommodation and gourmet cuisine in a matchless riverside setting.
Painstakingly restored between 2003 and 2007, Gasthof Hirschen was declared Historic Hotel of the Year in 2009. Its rooms, suites and public areas feature exquisite period décor, with the typical ambience of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, combined with all the modern amenities guests could wish for. Fine cuisine is not forgotten at Gasthof Hirschen, and the hotel's gastronomic restaurant, La Passion, boasts a Michelin star and seventeen Gault-Millau points. Here, Chef Christian Kuchler offers his unique interpretation of classical French 'haute cuisine', contemporary and creative.
Gasthof Hirschen's unique situation, strategically placed between the river Rhine and well-tended vineyards, means that it is ideal for exploring this beautiful region of eastern Switzerland. Eglisau itself is a charming historic village, with many 17th century buildings, an 18th century church and a fascinating museum set in an outstanding baroque building. Numerous hiking and biking trails wind their way through the vineyards and along the river banks, and river cruises depart from the quay beside the hotel.
