Description: Château de VilletteLocated in the heart of the Parc du Morvan, surrounded by 500 hectares of magnificent estate and parkland, this spectacular property is set in a beautiful historic château, originally built as a hunting lodge in 1782. Lovingly restored and maintained by its present owners, Château de Villette offers cosy boutique-style accommodation, homely, welcoming hospitality, and great opportunities for outdoor activities in a beautiful heritage setting.Ideally placed for exploring this beautiful corner of Burgundy, Château de Villette is within easy reach of Autun, with its Roman town built for Augustus, or Beaune, with its famous hospice and historic centre. Wine lovers will be delighted by the Burgundy vineyards of Meursault, Pommard, Mercury, Volnay, Puligny Montrachet and many others. In season, shooting is available on the estate, and other possibilities include gastronomic tours, castle visits, golf, mountain biking, or horse-riding. After a busy day's outdoor activities or sightseeing, guests can take a cooling dip in the swimming pool, or relax in the beautiful ornamental gardens, originally designed by André le Notre, the gardener of Louis XIV and the architect who designed the park of the palace of Versailles. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, Château de Villette's owners offer delicious four-course ''table d'hôtes'' dinners, while tasty cheese, charcuterie and wine platters are available on other days of the week. A hearty breakfast is served every morning, consisting of both continental an cooked options. Self catering accommodation is also an option in the La Grenouillère Cottage. Type of rooms: Château de VilletteSantenots: The Santenots room, located on the 2nd floor, is decorated in natural colours and red hues. There are two single beds, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower.Meursault: The Meursault room is located on the 1st floor. It is decorated in pale yellow tones, and features a queen-size luxury divan bed. It comes with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Volnay: The Volnay room is located on the 2nd floor, and is decorated in warm yellow mustard tones. It comes with a queen-size luxury divan bed, a free-standing cast-iron bath, standing in the room, a shower and a small en-suite bathroom. Chambolle: Chambolle is a double bedroom on the 1st floor. It features a king-size luxury divan bed, an open fireplace, a stunning view over the park, and a bathroom with a bath and shower. This room can be combined with the Musigny room to form a family suite. Musigny: Musigny is decorated in natural and country-style colours. It is the largest bedroom in the château, and features a four-poster king-size luxury divan bed and an additional single bed, a small sitting area with an open fireplace, and is south-facing with a view over the park. It has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. Musigny can form a part of a family suite together with the Chambolle room, providing two double bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping five. Chassagne Montrachet: Chassagne Montrachet is a family suite with two bedrooms and one bathroom. Montrachet has a king-size luxury divan bed and an additional single bed, and a wash-basin in the room. Chassagne has two single beds, a wash-basin in the room, and is south-facing with a superb view. As an option, the Montrachet room can be booked individually. In this case, the Montrachet room will not be used. Escargot Cottage: Next to the château, the Escargot Cottage, built in the 17th century, is ideal for two guests, with the option of two additional guests accommodated on a sofa-bed in the living room. Recently having undergone a thorough renovation, it has a large living area with an open fireplace, and an open-plan kitchen with a dining area. There is a large king-size four-poster bed and a bathroom with a deep antique bathtub and a shower. It has its own small garden, providing independent comfort. The Escargot Cottage is also available on a self-catering basis. La Grenouillère Cottage: La Grenouillère is a cottage for six people on the estate of the château, with a breathtaking view of the countryside and the lake. It has bedrooms, a bathroom with a large bathtub and a shower, a large living-room with an open-plan kitchen, an open fireplace, and a private garden with a south-facing terrace. It is equipped with a washing-machine, a tumble-dryer and a dishwasher. It also has to the swimming pool. Beds & Extra Beds: 4 rooms with double bed. 1 room with double (two matrasses which can be separated. 2 rooms with extra single bed. Additional information: Château de VilletteEntrance may be by prior arrangement only. In some places, it is normal that guests can enter by appointment only. After 18 km on the D 981 coming from Autun, turn right onto the D192 for Poil. Drive through the little village of Poil and 2 km after you have left the village, turn left for ''Villette''. Just before Chalon, take exit 4 (Chalon Sud - Le Creusot) and follow indications for Le Creusot (N80). Just before Le Creusot, at a large about, follow directions for Autun/Marmagne. In Marmagne, after crossing the railway line, turn left onto the D61 towards Mesvres, Etang sur Arroux. In Etang sur Arroux follow the signs for Luzy. You will arrive on the D981.
