Description: Great FostersSurrounded by 50 acres of beautiful formal gardens and parkland, Great Fosters is set in a Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion, reputedly built as a royal hunting lodge in 1550. After a long and eventful history, this fabulous property is now a prestigious luxury hotel, combining a genuine historic atmosphere with a gracious setting, modern amenities and discreet service.Ideally placed for romantic escapes, corporate stays or simply quality time in the country, Great Fosters is within easy reach of Heathrow, Windsor and Staines, and has excellent road and rail links close by. On site, the hotel boasts a large outdoor swimming pool, featuring unique listed bathing boxes from the 1920s, an outdoor tennis court, and croquet can be played on the lawn on request. Bicycles are also available for hire, while golf enthusiasts will find a number of excellent courses within a fifteen minute drive of the hotel. Great Fosters is host to a range of excellent dining venues, including The Estate Grill, specialising in modern English and European cuisine, and The Tudor Room, a gourmet restaurant serving the creations of chef Douglas Balish in a beautiful, decadent period dining room. All menus are based on the finest seasonal produce, locally produced wherever possible. Type of rooms: Great FostersThe Coach House:The Coach House was completely refurbished in 2008 to create 11 beautiful junior suites and double rooms, a short walk across the courtyard from the Main House. Decorated in a contemporary style the rooms feature comfortable sofas or chairs, plasma screens and Roberts Blu Tune 50 DAB radio & sound systems. All rooms are equipped with modems and Wi-Fi. Some bathrooms have separate showers whilst another has its own steam room. Double rooms are 9 to 12 sq m, premier double rooms are 15 to 20 sq m and junior suites are 16 to 20 sq m. Superior Rooms: Some rooms offer a breathtaking view of the topiary garden and Japanese bridge whilst others overlook the front of the hotel. Each is uniquely decorated and has a work desk and easy chair. All rooms have 5ft (150 cm) king-size double beds and are between 16 and 20 sq m. Executive Rooms: Executive bedrooms are in the Main House and are uniquely decorated in keeping with the Jacobean theme. They have a separate dressing area to the main bedroom and 6ft (180 cm) king-size beds. They are between 24 and 27 sq m. The Cloisters: The Cloisters is reached via a short walk across the courtyard and is an elegant collection of junior suites and double rooms overlooking an intimate Cloister-style garden. They offer excellent facilities and combine the charming historical features of the Main House with contemporary décor. The double rooms include 5ft (150 cm) king-size double beds, mini-bar, Roberts Blu Tune 50 DAB radio and sound systems and flat screen televisions. The junior suites have 6ft (180 cm) super king-size beds and luxurious sofas. Double rooms are approximately 16 to18 sq m whilst the junior suites are approx 30 sq m. Premier Executive Rooms: These bedrooms are in keeping with the theme of the Main House, yet have a contemporary décor and modern amenities. They have flat screen televisions, in room safes and a Roberts Blu Tune 50 DAB radio & sound system. All rooms have 6ft (180 cm) king-size beds (which may also be twinned if required), a work desk and easy chairs. Bathrooms have been furnished with black granite, shimmer tiles and illuminated shaving mirrors. Bedrooms range in size between 23 and 29 sq m. Historic Hotel Rooms: This collection of rooms has been individually and carefully decorated to add to the elegance of the hotel. Whether it's ornate Italian furniture, sixteenth century tapestries or a luxurious four-poster bed, these spacious rooms and suites complement the grandeur of the Main House.
